AHRQ measures patient safety culture in healthcare

A newly released Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) survey shows that hospitals are making progress in patient safety culture, particularly when it comes to teamwork within units, but many providers still face shortcomings concerning non-punitive response to errors, handoffs, and staffing issues.

The 2014 AHRQ Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture, released in April 2014 offers a broad perspective on where hospitals stand in the realm of patient safety culture, utilizing data submitted from 653 hospitals across the country and more than 405,000 hospital staff responses.
