The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have issued a press release and media advisory stating that hospitals and dialysis centers should do more to prevent central line bloodstream-associated infections (CLABSI).

The press release states that a 58% decrease in CLABSIs in 2009 compared to 2001 proves that such infections are preventable, and CDC guidelines should be followed in all healthcare settings.

The CDC explores the topic in its current issue of Vital Signs.
