Family of girl whose limbs were amputated after long ED wait reach settlement

One of the largest settlements of its kind in California was reached October 28. Methodist Hospital in Sacramento, CA, and emergency room workers will pay $10 million to the family of a girl who had parts of her arms and legs amputated after waiting to receive care in the ED for an infection.

The money will go toward current expenses and a trust fund will be set up to pay for the cost of living for the girl, who had a bacterial bloodstream infection.
