Firefighter stops suicide attempt at hospital

A firefighter is being credited with quick thinking and preventing a patient at an Alabama hospital from shooting himself, according to a report from WSFA-TV.

According to the report, no one was injured when a shot was fired inside the emergency room at Medical Center Enterprise in Enterprise, Alabama on November 17. Apparently, a patient who was seeking treatment at the hospital pulled out a small pistol and attempted to commit suicide.

The firefighter, who was in the patient’s room, pushed the gun away and the weapon discharged into a wall, according to the report. No charges have been filed.
