Police shoot and kill patient who pulled gun at Chicago-area hospital

A man who was a patient at a Highland Park, Illinois hospital was shot and killed by police a day after he was admitted after he allegedly pulled a gun on hospital staff, according to a report in the Chicago Tribune.

According to the report, Christopher Anderson and his nine-year-old daughter were passengers involved in a car crash about 11 p.m. November 2. They were taken to the NorthShore Highland Park Hospital with minor injuries, and the driver of the car was arrested on a DUI charge.

At about 1:30 a.m. Monday morning, police responded to reports that Anderson had become aggressive toward hospital employees and couldn’t be calmed down, the paper reported. He apparently pulled out a handgun, and police were forced to fire on him, killing him. The incident is still under investigation.
