Outpatient surgical errors focus of USA Today article, letter

Outpatient surgical centers face increased scrutiny from patients and healthcare professionals wary of increased medical errors, according to a USA Today article. The story highlights one patient's case, in which a surgical error led to injury.
In a letter in response to the article, outpatient surgical centers administrator Ken Rosenquest noted that the error in question could have happened at any surgical setting. Outpatient clinics offer no greater patient safety risk than a hospital's surgical unit, according to Rosenquest.
